Dear Tracy,
I wanted to let you know that you are $2,000 recipients of Purple Dress Awards! Your check for $2,000 will be mailed in the coming month; please confirm with me when you receive it, so I can sleep soundly. :-) If it does not come directly from Hearst, it will come from CharityBuzz or JCPenney.
Congratulations, and I hope that you accept this knowing how proud we are of your community-based efforts for the nationwide DonateMyDress.org campaign!
We will announce this on the homepage of DonateMyDress.org and Facebook shortly too!
Best,
Tammy

Dear DonateMyDress.org Chapters,
I am thrilled to announce the winners of our first-ever Purple Dress Awards, which were funded from proceeds of our celebrity dress auction and created to recognize and support the outstanding work of our chapters.
Each application we received was so impressive -- this was not an easy decision to make! But these four in particular won the honors and will each receive a $500 grant to continue their work in 2010.
The Couture Girl's Closet in Temecula, California
President: Tracy MacKellar

This chapter was founded by a mother-daughter duo who first learned about DonateMyDress.org when reading TeenPROM. Since its start in October 2008, The Couture Girl's Closet has received remarkable local press and came up with innovative ideas to collect dresses, such as a contest awarding free prom tickets and a salon experience to the girl who collected the most dresses.
This year, The Couture Girl's Closet also provided dresses to the first-ever prom in their community for special education students. 16-year-old co-founder Nicole says her chapter has changed her life and will set to work this summer creating a public service announcement video to increase awareness of the cause.
The Purple Dress Award will enable her and Tracy, who have a very small operating budget, to expand their promotion, getting the word out to more girls in need.

Community Awards
April 1, 2009 - Riverside, California
Officer Lynn Salazar with the Temecula Police Department, Crime Prevention Unit, was recognized by her peers at the Riverside Convention Center during an awards ceremony.
Officer Salazar has been a big supporter of The Couture Girl's Closet, and has brought many donations of dresses and accessories to this organization by "spreading the word".
Officer Salazar received a "Humanitarian Award" for her involvement with our organization and the Temecula Community. We are very honored and proud to have her support and friendship.
